I. Introduction to the School
The School of Artificial Intelligence at Nanchang University was officially established in October 2025. It is a secondary teaching and research unit based on the discipline of artificial intelligence (AI) and serving interdisciplinary studies.
The School primarily focuses on the construction of fundamental AI and interdisciplinary disciplines. It comprises one teaching department—the Department of Artificial Intelligence—and two research platforms: the Interdisciplinary Center and the Artificial Intelligence Industrial Research Institute. The School deepens reforms in scientific research systems and mechanisms, promotes organized research, and concentrates on intelligent fundamental theories, data intelligence systems, and interdisciplinary AI research. It conducts interdisciplinary research in three main directions: AI and Medical Science, AI and Materials Science, and AI and Social Science. The goal is to establish a leading and influential hub in the province, nationally and internationally, for AI and interdisciplinary development, top-notch innovative talent cultivation, and breakthroughs in core technologies. This aims to provide technological support and talent resources for the high-quality development of industries in Jiangxi.
The School possesses a comprehensive talent cultivation system. It has a first-level Master's program in Intelligent Science and Technology and, jointly with other schools, offers four professional Master's degree programs in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, and Network & Information Security. It offers an undergraduate program in Artificial Intelligence, recognized as a Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program.
The School boasts a well-structured, robust, and excellent faculty team. It includes recipients of numerous high-level talent programs, such as the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, National Young Talent Programs, Major Talent Programs from Ministries and Commissions, Jiangxi Provincial Leading Talent Programs, and Young Leading Talent Programs. In the past five years, faculty members have achieved substantial scientific research results in the field of AI, winning multiple provincial/ministerial-level first prizes in science and technology awards. They have undertaken over 70 national key major projects, projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and provincial-level science and technology projects; published more than 200 papers in high-level domestic and international academic journals and at CCF-A category conferences; and obtained over 30 authorized invention patents.
Based on serving major national strategic needs and the high-quality development needs of emerging industries in Jiangxi, the School strengthens fundamental research and technological innovation, explores reforms in mechanisms for cultivating top-notch innovative talents in the AI field, and provides innovation and talent support for regional economic and social development.
II. Application Requirements
Disciplines: AI-related disciplines (14), Computer Science and Technology (0812), Software Engineering (0835), Mathematics (0701), Systems Science (0711), Engineering (08), etc.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree or Senior Professional Title.
(1) Distinguished Talents
Strong academic leadership with pioneering achievements and outstanding academic contributions recognized by peers nationally and internationally in their field; experience in organizing and planning major scientific research projects; outstanding strategic planning ability for major socio-economic development issues; strategic planning capability for discipline construction and scientific research, able to lead related discipline clusters to maintain or surpass domestic leading/international advanced levels. Remuneration package negotiated individually.
(2) Discipline Leading Talents
Strong academic organizational ability with influential achievements at nationally leading or world-advanced levels in their discipline, demonstrating solid academic accomplishments; academically active with the potential to become a leading talent in the field; creative vision for discipline development, capable of leading their discipline to a nationally leading position and advancing to domestic leading/international advanced levels in frontier areas. Remuneration package negotiated individually.
(3) Discipline Direction Leaders
Strong team organization ability with significant representative achievements in their specific discipline (professional) direction, possessing good academic competitiveness and significant development potential; capable of planning discipline direction development with innovative ideas for discipline construction and academic research.
Offers: Pre-tax annual salary: 500,000 - 800,000 RMB; housing purchase subsidy & settling-in allowance: 1 - 1.8 million RMB; research funding negotiated individually.
(4) Outstanding Discipline Talents
Strong academic ability with influential representative achievements in their discipline; development potential and innovative ideas for discipline construction, with the potential to support the discipline in maintaining or advancing to nationally advanced levels. Applicants should generally have postdoctoral experience (over 2 years and completed) from renowned domestic or international universities or research institutes, with potential to apply for national youth talent programs. Exceptionally outstanding candidates will be considered individually.
Offers: Pre-tax annual salary: 300,000 - 500,000 RMB; housing purchase subsidy & settling-in allowance: 0.5 - 1 million RMB; research funding negotiated individually.
