The School is committed to addressing major national strategic needs and advancing the frontiers of global science and technology. Our mission is to explore foundational theories in artificial intelligence, overcome key technological challenges, and empower industry applications. We focus on two major directions: "Core Foundational Theories and Architecture of Artificial Intelligence" and "AI + X" aiming to overcome development bottlenecks in China's central region, such as attracting high-end talent and enhancing original innovation capabilities. Guided by the strategic goal of "Five 'One's" — building a major platform, nurturing a strong research team, establishing a robust AI teaching foundation, developing a leading discipline, and serving a range of industrial chains — we strive to create a leading and influential hub in the province for AI talent cultivation and technological innovation. This will provide technological support and talent resources for the high-quality industrial development of Jiangxi.
Our research framework emphasizes both in-depth exploration of foundational theories and broad expansion of technological applications, primarily concentrating on the following three core directions:
Direction One: Foundational Theories of Artificial Intelligence
Focusing on fundamental theories and key technologies in multi-agent systems, image processing, natural language processing, and AI security, we aim to achieve breakthroughs in machine cognition and decision-making capabilities, thereby strengthening the theoretical foundation of AI.
Direction Two: Data Intelligence Systems Research
Concentrating on foundational theories and key technologies in big data processing, data mining, performance assurance for intelligent systems, and intelligent computing, we promote data-driven intelligent analysis and autonomous decision-making, striving to build efficient and trustworthy intelligent systems.
Direction Three: Interdisciplinary AI Research and Applications
Addressing significant demands in fields such as medicine, materials science, and social sciences, we conduct interdisciplinary research in areas like AI and organoid-based drug development, brain-computer interfaces, medical imaging diagnostics, smart low-carbon solar energy, RF/photonic fusion intelligence, integrated stereoscopic vision, and ecological dual-carbon decision-making. Our goal is to develop systematic solutions that empower industrial innovation through intelligent technologies.
The School possesses a comprehensive research support system, providing robust guarantees for cutting-edge exploration:
Key Laboratories: We leverage national and ministerial/provincial-level research platforms, including the Nanchang Laboratory (National Silicon-based LED Engineering Technology Research Center) and the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Spatial Information Intelligent Sensing Technology. We are also actively advancing the construction of a national-level joint research platform for data intelligence.
